Brown Rice
Description:
It is one of the most important cereals from a nutritional standpoint, as it is mainly consumed as whole grains, not subjected to refining processes that would reduce its nutritional value. This type of rice retains fiber, oils (found in the germ) rich in unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins (B, PP, K, E), as well as minerals like potassium, iron, calcium, and phosphorus. Many of these elements are absent in refined white rice, which is primarily made up of starch and some protein.

Legend has it that in the past, Chinese farmers cultivated it exclusively for the emperor and his court, who valued its nutritional and aphrodisiac properties, earning it the nickname “forbidden rice.” It is ideal when boiled and seasoned with oil or butter, or as a side dish for meat and fish-based dishes.

Red Rice
Description:
It is a whole grain rice with excellent nutritional value, superior to any other variety due to its richness in vitamins, trace elements, and minerals. It has medium, crystalline grains with a ruby red color, known for their antioxidant content and high digestibility. It requires long cooking time, about 40 minutes, or half the time in a pressure cooker, and should be cooked separately from the seasoning. It absorbs all flavours while maintaining its distinctive character, with rich organoleptic notes: a savory taste, a spicy aroma, and a strong flavour. It is particularly suitable for vegetable and legume-based dishes, pairs perfectly with white fish, and offers an original twist in rice salads.
